Education & Action

Stormwater is a major cause of water pollution, yet it is the hardest to control because pollution comes from so many different places. Every day, people make choices that may or may not add more pollution to streams and Puget Sound. Choices that pollute, such as driving, applying fertilizers and pesticides, and leaving pet waste on the ground mean that Puget Sound is getting more polluted. Already many beaches are closed to swimming and shellfish harvesting.

Your actions matter! You have the power to stop pollution from cars, yard chemicals, pets, septic systems, and soil erosion from entering Puget Sound. Choose non-polluting or least polluting actions! These choices may not be easy, but small changes in your lifestyle will contribute to a cleaner and healthier Puget Sound.
